Use Cases: Job Level & Job Department

Using Job Level & Job Department for Smarter Targeting

Updated over 3 weeks ago

SigParser’s Job Level and Job Department fields make it easy to build precise, relevant lists—whether you’re planning events, launching campaigns, or identifying cross-sell opportunities. Below are three common use cases showing how teams apply these filters in real workflows.

Use Case 1: Event Invitations — Targeting the Right Seniority

Goal:
You’re hosting two events:

  • A C-suite dinner focused on regulatory trends

  • A broader compliance workshop for directors and managers

Each event requires a clearly defined, appropriately senior audience.

C-Suite Dinner (20–30 Executives)

Filters:

  • Job Level: C-Level

  • Company Industry: Financial Services

  • Location: NY

💡Tips:

  • Set Contact Status = Valid

  • Require at least 1 email sent and 1 email received

    • This interaction exchange indicates an active relationship and helps avoid cold outreach at an intimate event

Compliance Workshop (100+ Attendees)

Filters:

  • Job Level: Director or Manager

  • Job Department: Legal & Compliance

  • Company Industry: Financial Services

  • Location: NY or NJ

💡Tips:

  • Utilize OR logic when filtering

    • Using AND across multiple locations often returns zero results

  • Instead, group locations with OR filters to expand your audience while staying targeted

Use Case 2: Practice Area Marketing

Goal: Launch an HR compliance campaign about new workplace regulations. Customize your messaging to best resonate with your segmented audience.

Filters:

  • Job Department: Human Resources

  • Job Level: C-Level, Executive, Director, Manager

Best Practice: Segment messaging by seniority

  • C-Level / Executives: Strategic impact and risk mitigation

  • Directors / Managers: Tactical guidance and implementation steps

💡Tips:

  • Use "Not Equals" filtering to exclude Contributor Job Levels, and include all others.

Use Case 3: Account Expansion - Cross-Selling to Existing Clients

Goal: You represent a manufacturing client on environmental compliance matters. You want to expand into their tax, employment, and IP practices.

Step 1: Map the client organization

  1. Search for the client company (e.g., Acme Manufacturing)

  2. Open the Company profile

  3. Review:

    • Contacts tab — who you know at the company

    • Relationships tab — which coworkers have relationships with the company

  4. Alternatively, search for the Company on the Relationships page to see all individual Coworker to Contact relationships at a given Company

💡Tips:

  • Utilize Custom Fields to classify your current clients

  • You can then filter on your "Client" Custom Field

Step 2: Identify cross-sell targets by department

Go to the Relationships page in SigParser. This will display all of the Contact relationships your Coworkers have. Filter by the desired company and apply additional filters:

  • Tax Services:

    • Filter: Job Department = Finance & Accounting

    • Filter: Job Level = C-Level, Executive, Director

    • Find: CFO, VP of Tax, Controller

  • IP/Technology:

    • Filter: Job Department = Engineering & Technology Development

    • Filter: Job Level = C-Level, Executive, Director

    • Find: CTO, VP of Engineering, Director of Product

  • 💡Tips:

    • Configure the Primary Relationship Field to focus on senior coworkers or specific roles (e.g., Partners, Account Managers).

    • This helps surface the most relevant internal connections for expansion.

Step 3: Plan warm introductions

  • Review relationships for each target

  • Identify which of your partners knows them best

  • Request introductions from the environmental partner
