My Contacts

Use the My Contacts view to effortlessly filter contact data. Limit user visibility to My Contacts only with Role Permissions.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Teams using SigParser can now take advantage of the My Contacts view to effortlessly filter and manage their contact data.

When a user selects the My Contacts filter, they will only see contacts from data sources they are an assigned owner of (such as their mailbox or a CSV file they imported).

With customizable permission settings, you can restrict visibility so users can only access contact data from sources they own.

This feature is particularly useful for teams aiming to control data visibility and ensure privacy across users.

How "My Contacts" Works

SigParser will automatically assign data sources to users in SigParser.

If a user has a connected mailbox, imports a CSV file, or manages a CRM connection, these will be considered the user's data sources.

Any contact data that came from these sources would then be visible to the user as part of My Contacts filtering.

Data sources can be manually added or removed from user profiles.

"My Contacts" Filtering

On the Contacts page, select the Views drop-down menu > select My Contacts.

This will show you all of the contacts that have come from one of your owned data sources.

You can expose the "My Contact" column on other Grid Views by selecting the Column Picker > Overview > My Contact > Save.

The "My Contact" column will display a green check-mark to confirm the contact record is associated with one of your assigned data sources.

You can also filter for your contacts by selecting the Search button > filter for My Contact is TRUE.

You can also apply more complex filters using the Funnel icon > Overview > My Contact > Is TRUE

"My Contacts" Data Sources

For more information on your Contact sources, select a Contact record to open the Contact Details Module > select the History tab > scroll down to the Connectors section.

This will show you the source of the contact (Mailbox, CSV Import, CRM Import, etc.). Contacts may come from multiple sources.

The Visibility Reason will explain why you are able to view the contact data.

I don't recognize this Contact, why am I seeing it?

  • You have "Can View All Contacts" enabled as a permission for your user Role

  • You are assigned as a data owner of a source where the contact was found.

Note: Contacts who are CC'd on emails (including forwarded messages) may be added to your Contacts. While you may not have directly communicated with the contact, the record was identified through an email or meeting interaction.

How to Configure "My Contacts" Permissions

To limit users to the "My Contacts" only view, you will update Role permissions.

You can update the permissions of an existing user role or create a new user Role with limited permissions.

Update Existing User Role Permissions

  • Go to Settings > Users > Users

  • Select the Role of the user whose permissions you want to update

  • Scroll to the Can View All Contacts permission

    • If this is Enabled: users with this permission will be able to view all contacts across the team, including records marked as Private and records extracted from other users' mailboxes

    • If this is Disabled: users without this permission will only be able to view contacts from sources that they have access to. Note: This will not allow the user to view Interactions, Relationships, and Company data.

  • Select Save

  • If DISABLED, this user will only be able to see contacts from data sources they have access to.

To restrict contact data visibility, the Can View All Contacts permission needs to be DISABLED.

Create a New User Role

  • Go to Settings > Users > Roles > +Add

  • Name the Role

    • Example: My Contacts Data Only

  • Select Add Role

  • Select Save

  • Select the Role from the Roles list

  • Enable or Disable the permissions you want this user to have.

    • To restrict contact data visibility, the Can View All Contacts permission needs to be DISABLED.

  • Select Save

  • You can now assign this Role to new or existing users.

  • If DISABLED, this user will only be able to see contacts from data sources they have access to.

Tip: The Team Member Limited Role is a pre-configured Role with limited permissions and can be easily edited for these purposes.

Select the Team Member Limited Role > enable or disable permissions as-needed > save > assign Role.

Manage User Data Sources

You can assign multiple data sources to users, or remove data sources.

Adding a user as an owner of a data source will allow them to see contact data that comes from that source, and will be considered part of the My Contacts data that is available to the user.

  • Go to Settings > Users > Users

  • Select a user from the Username column

  • Select Show Advanced Settings

  • Under Connectors, select Add

  • Enter the name of the source you want to assign to this user.

    • You can assign multiple sources to a single user.

  • To remove a data source, select the delete icon

  • Select Done
